NATIONAL DESIGN AND ART COMPETITION (NDAC) 2019
The National Design and Arts Competition (NDAC) is an annual event organized by the Royal Textile Academy (RTA) and the Textile Museum under Department of Culture, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs.
Objective of the competition:
The main objective of organizing this national level competition is to promote the unique arts and crafts of Bhutan by encouraging and providing a befitting platform and recognition to artisans under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck.
Categories of the NDAC:
Until this year, the NDAC consisted of five categories namely:
- Weaving: Gho
- Weaving: Kira
- Embroidery
- Traditional Painting
- Contemporary Art
This year, we have included two more categories that are:
- Sculpturing,
- Wood Carving,
Participants: The competition is open to all Bhutanese Nationals.
Schedule: The tentative schedule is from February – March 2020.
Prizes and Certificates: Prizes and meritorious certificates will be awarded to the top three winners in each category by Her Majesty the Queen Mother Sangay Choden Wangchuck, the Royal Patron and Chairperson of the Royal Textile Academy. Below are the prize money for the respective positions:
First Prize: Nu.120, 000
Second Prize: Nu.65, 000
Third Prize: Nu.32, 500
