Exhibition and sales on “The Mellow”
The Royal Textile Academy of Bhutan (RTA) in collaboration with CDK Designs will be hosting an exhibition and sale on 12 April 2017 at the RTA Gallery. The exhibition and sales titled, ‘The Mellow’ is a collection inspired by expression of stillness and calmness of water. It will also feature a fashion show as a part of the opening event.
The event will be graced by HRH Princess Eeuphelma Choden Wangchuck as the Chief Guest.
Chandrika Pakhrin launched her small brand, CDK Designs, with a vision of becoming fully eco-brand. As the modern fashion industry is the second most polluting commercial industry in the world, she wanted to offer an eco-friendly alternative to the fashion lovers. She wishes to make her clothing line simple, affordable yet elegant.
Chandrika Pakhrin studied Computer Applications and worked with Bank of Bhutan Ltd. prior to becoming a full-time designer.
The exhibition and sales titled, “The Mellow” includes experimenting with the natural dyes and combination of Bhutanese textile with wooden beads.
“The mixture of purple cabbage with different dyes brings the stillness and links the figure design as simple and calm,” says Chandrika. “It gives a mature, sophisticated and classy look.”
