The Royal Textile Academy is calling for applicants to participate in a Product Development and Design Training Workshop conducted by Dr. Joseph Lo from Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage from 4th March till 23rd May 2019. This intensive workshop is organized to up-scale the design knowledge and abilities of local Bhutanese designers and producers and to recognize and identify suppliers for the museum shop. A winner will be selected at the end of the workshop who will receive a meritorious certificate, become a member of the RTA Designer Alumni and sign a 12-months contract to supply the products exclusively for the RTA. The RTA will also facilitate in submitting the winning collection to World Crafts Council Award of Excellence 2020 and Japan Institution of Design Promotion’s G-Mark Certification.
Only 15 seats are available so as to give personal coaching to each participant. There is a non-refundable subsidized fee of Nu.11,500 to cover the cost of training materials, lunch and refreshments. The last date of registration is 30th January 2019. A briefing session will be held on Friday, 1st February 2019 to present the contents of the training workshop.
