Her Majesty the Queen Mother Sangay Choden Wangchuck is in Lucerne, Switzerland on the invitation of the World Tourism Forum, Lucerne 2015. Her Majesty delivered the Keynote Address on today morning (23 April 2015) during the opening of the Fourth World Tourism Forum.
According to the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Forum, Mr. Reto Witwer, the efforts of Bhutan regarding environment protection and sustainability, notably relating to tourism have made Bhutan highly interesting for the entire travel, tourism and hospitality industry.
The Forum recognizes that Bhutan has coped and continues to cope with the challenge of preserving its landscape and traditions and opening the country for sustainable tourism at the same time. The Forum believes that the Bhutanese Role Model will be of high interest to all the participants of the World Tourism Forum Lucerne 2015.
Top tourism industry specialists and speakers from more than 60 countries will assemble in Switzerland for the Forum in Lucerne. Held every two years, the Forum this year will focus on global trends, innovation, talents and sustainability.
Her Majesty the Queen Mother also inaugurated the exhibition “Bhutan – Land Close to Heaven” on April 16, 2014 at Naprstek Museum in Prague, Czech Republic en route to Lucerne, Switzerland. During the official visit on invitation of the Czech government, Her Majesty met the President of Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman, Foreign Minister, Lubomír Zaorálek and Culture Minister, Daniel Herman.
