30th Anniversary of Bhutan-Thailand Diplomatic Relations
The Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka, in partnership with the Royal Textile Academy of Bhutan, organized “A Night to Celebrate 30 years of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Bhutan” yesterday at the Royal Textile Academy of Bhutan. Her Excellency Lyonpo Dechen Wangmo, Minister for Health, Royal Government of Bhutan graced the event as the Chief Guest. The Thai delegation was led by Her Excellency Mrs. Arunrung Phothong Humphreys, the Ambassador-Designate of Thailand to Bhutan.
The event showcased “Khon : the maneuver of Monkey Soldier”, Thai kickboxing and a fashion show. The fashion show themed “Threading Bhutanese-Thai” showcased a combination of Thai and Bhutanese textiles. The event concluded with a dinner.
Earlier in the day a lecture on “Traditional Textile Conservation Methods in Thailand and Bhutan” was organized at the Norkhil Hotel. Ms. Karma Deki Tshering, the Head of Conservation at the Royal Textile Academy of Bhutan presented the methods in Bhutan while Dr. Anucha Thirakanont, the Dean, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Thammasat University presented the methods practiced in Thailand.
